Göteborg:
En mulen och småregnig 1a maj begav sig medlemmar från Irlandinformation i Göteborg till Masthuggstorget och monumentet till minnet av de spanienfrivilliga. Där nedlades en krans och en tyst minut hölls.
Även i coronatider är det av högsta vikt att hålla minnet av de som kämpat och stupat i kampen för frihet, om så i Spanien, på Irland, eller på annat håll, levande. Genom att minnas de som givit sina liv i kampen förr, uttrycker vi också vår solidaritet med de som fortsätter denna kamp idag, och arbetar för att uppmärksamma folk om vikten av att stödja dessa.
Stockholm:
Under den mulna förmiddagen samlades medlemmar och sympatisörer från Irlandinformation i Stockholm vid La Mano monumentet för att hedra minnet av de spanienfrivilliga. Vid monumentet nedlades en krans från föreningen med budskapet ”Our revenge will be the laughter of our children”.
I tider av kris är det viktigare än någonsin att vi gemensamt minns de som kämpat för en bättre värld, att vi enas och lär av historien så att den kamp som bedrivits inte varit bortkastad.
Med historien i ryggen pekas riktningen för vår kamp idag ut.
Gothenburg:
On a cloudy and rainy May 1st, members from Ireland information group of Sweden in Gothenburg went to Masthuggstorget and the monument to the memory of the Spanish volunteers. At the monument a wreath was laid down and a minute of silence was held.
Even in corona times, it is of the utmost importance to keep alive the memory of those who fought and fell in the struggle for freedom, whether in Spain, in Ireland, or elsewhere. By remembering those who have given their lives to the struggle in the past, we also express our solidarity with those who continue this struggle today, and work to alert people to the importance of supporting them.
Stockholm:
During the cloudy morning, members and sympathizers from Ireland information group of Sweden in Stockholm gathered at the La Mano monument to honor the memory of the Spanish volunteers. At the monument, a wreath was laid down with the message ”Our revenge will be the laughter of our children”.
In times of crisis, it is more important than ever that we remember those who have fought for a better world, that we unite and learn from history so that the struggle that has been waged has not been wasted.
The direction of our struggle is rooted in history.
